How To:Make Lasagna

Ingredients for Bolognese sauce:

• Olive oil x 1 cup            

• Minced Onion x 1

• Minced Celery x 2            

• Minced Carrot x 1

• Minced beef x 1 kilogram        

• Minced pork x 0.5 kilogram

• Red wine x 1 cup            

• Canned peeled tomatoes x 3.5L

• Tomato paste x 2 soup spoons    

• Salt and Pepper x 1 ½ tsp (or to taste)

• White wine x 1 cup              

• Lasagna sheets x 500 gram

• Parmesan cheese x 300 gram      

• Fresh mozzarella x 1 kilogram


Ingredients for Béchamel sauce:

• Butter x 100 gram         

• Milk x 500 ml           

• Flour x 100 gram

Step by Step

Bolognese sauce

1    Add olive oil in the pan and veggies, cook 4-5 minutes.

2    Add minced meat, bake on both sides and turn when the meat is well cooked (color changes).

3    Add wines and the Italian tomato sauce and paste.

4    Cover and simmer 2 hours (reduce the flame). Very important to stir occasionally (every 10 minutes).

5    In the last 10 minutes, taste if salt & pepper is needed.

Béchamel sauce

1    Melt butter in pan. Add milk and add flour in small portions and stir every time (be careful that it doesn’t stick together).

2    Mix Bolognese and Béchamel to create the lasagna sauce.

Putting it together

1    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)

2    Meanwhile, spread one layer of sauce in the baking dish.

3    Add one layer lasagna sheet, one layer of the sauce, one lasagna sheet, one layer of Mozzarella and Parmesan, one lasagna sheet.

4    Finish with the final layer of Mozzarella and  Parmesan.

5    Put in the oven for 30 minutes.

6    To serve, cut into squares.
