Hand in Hand International Children's Music Festival

 

Hand in Hand International Children's Music Festival is China's first international music festival meant for the whole family. Chinese singer-songwriter and author Liu Jian and his American journalist wife, Rebecca Kanthor, created Hand in Hand so their children, and all kids in China, would have the chance to hear the best live music for kids from around the world, and learn about different cultures through music. Both you and the kids will love listening to some class acts, including Lucky Diaz and the Family Jame Band (USA), Hippe Gasten (Holland) and more.

British fashion designer Paul Smith has brought his simply titles exhibition to Shanghai! Water Heavens: An Architectural Music Experience

 

Every week, right on the outskirts of Shanghai, you'll see the peaceful and ancient water town Zhujiajia light up with one of China's most creative and unique contemproary musical performances. Mulan (Shadow Play)

 

The story of Hua Mulan, a girl who disguises herself as a man and goes to war in place of her elderly father has been adapted in numerous films and television works, but this new shadow play version now brings the story to life in a stunning way. Projected onto a backlit curtain, you can watch Mulan's story unfold through the use of silhouette puppets that have a history of more than 2,000 years in China.

Foster the People

 

American indie-pop band, Foster the People, will be making their way to China for the first time ever! Martial Art in Dance

 

Premiering his latest creation, "Martial Art in Dance", choreographer Zhai Liang showcases kung fu during the Shanghai International Arts Festival. Four young contemporary dancers and three martial artists will put on an intense show of saber play, swordplay, cudgel play, and tai chi at Shanghai International Dance Center for an incrediblely captivating performance.
