This year, Shanghai Disney Resort are bringing a magical twist to CNY celebrations to welcome in the Year of the Dog – combining Chinese traditions and festivities with some Disney magic and fun for all the family to enjoy. From now until March 4th, here's what you can expect if you're wanting to shake up your plans.
From daily drum ceremonies in the Gardens of Imagination, to a new dance number in Celebration Square, your family will be welcomed into the resort through high-energy performances led by Mickey, Minnie and Pluto to wish you prosperity and happiness. Inspired by the Lunar New Year and Shanghai's historic jazz and swing traditions, you'll watch the characters dance along to classic rhythms – beautifully dressed in vintage Shanghai costumes. If you're lucky, you might even be asked to dance along with the characters up front!
Featuring the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac depicted by popular Disney and Disney Pixar characters, this area is where you need to go to make your dreams come true. Here, you'll be given special wish cards to write on and hang in the garden for all to see.
Partake in a reunion dinner with a twist at the Wandering Moon Restaurant. With authentic tastes of Chinese New Year, there are seafood dishes for the entire family to enjoy, featuring a Steamed Fish with Chopped Chili; Family Earthen Pot of seafood, roasted chicken and duck; an Auspicious Seafood Salad of salmon, scallop meat, tobiko, orchid clam, and a glutinous Mickey-shaped cake as a little sweet treat (¥888/six people).
Bold red and gold colors, lanterns, copper coins, gold ingots, auspicious clouds and other traditional Chinese elements will be taking over Sweethearts Confectionary and Marketplace in Disneytown this year for your much needed shopping sprees. Check off your holiday shopping list with over 40 specially designed items for the season in the beautifully decorated store.
