On 19 December 2019, SingCham Shanghai and SASAC of Hongkou District successfully held a strategic cooperation signing ceremony at Sheraton Shanghai Hongkou Hotel. The signing ceremony intensifies a closer strategic partnership between Hongkou District and the SingCham Shanghai in industries such as finance, shipping, commerce and education.

As a corporate member of the SingCham Shanghai and one of the organizers, EtonHouse International Education Group attended the signing ceremony. Being a well-known education group, EtonHouse takes this opportunity to establish its East China Flagship Kindergarten in Hongkou District, thus promote a deeper level of cooperation between Hongkou and SingCham Shanghai in the field of education.

The proposed kindergarten is expected to open in September 2020, with a construction area of more than 4,300 square meters. Under the guidance of the Hongkou District Education Bureau and related government departments, the new kindergarten will adhere to EtonHouse’s child-centred and inquiry-based approach to learning through the ‘Inquire, Think, Learn’ programme.

Aligned with international best practice, especially the Reggio Emilia approach from Northern Italy, EtonHouse’s pre-school curriculum builds up children’s mathematical, scientific and technological capabilities, and encourages children to learn about the world through authentic inquiry activities. Besides, with the school’s immersive bilingual education programmes, children will have a myriad of opportunities to communicate with ease in English and Chinese.

The establishment of EtonHouse’s East China Flagship Kindergarten will provide an international and thoughtfully prepared learning environment for students in Hongkou District, enabling children to gain multicultural experiences and to become global citizens. It will also help propel Hongkou’s “Rainbow Project” of education and attract diverse, multicultural staff, students and parents to work and live in Hongkou District.

At the signing ceremony, Hu Guangjie, Mayor of Hongkou District, and Wu Wengui, President of SingCham Shanghai, both expressed their expectation for the intensive cooperation between Hongkou District and SingCham Shanghai in the near future. Huang Yixian, the Executive President of EtonHouse International Education Group, said that:“ We are grateful to the Hongkou Government for their recognition and trust in EtonHouse. With advanced international education programmes, we will build the East China Flagship Kindergarten into a model school and contribute to the construction of a better Hongkou.”
