For some families, school started on 1st September, but for others, schools have already started since the middle of August. As we are into the 2021-2022 academic year, here are how some of Shanghai schools begin the new academic year!

The year kicked off with an HSK Award ceremony on the 26th of August to indicate excellent results. Here are the eager learners as they begin to enter the new school year.

Concordia International School Shanghai

After a summer of thorough preparation for a safe reopening, Concordia faculty and staff eagerly welcomed back students to campus for the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

There was a noticeable excitement in the air on Wednesday, September 1st, and it was hard to tell who was more excited about the new school year, students, parents, or teachers.

This year Concordia’s Word of the Year is THRIVE. Our goal this year is for our students and families to grow, learn, and excel as part of our school community. Just like the branches and leaves of a tree, our best growth happens when we connect to each other and our community!

Concordia International School of Shanghai also welcomed their new Head of School, Steven Winkelman.

"I am excited to be joining Concordia International School Shanghai. After twelve years working at our sister school in Vietnam, I am ecstatic to be in Shanghai learning more about our school and my new host country.  Concordia Shanghai is a special place, and I am ready to partner with our parents and faculty to support the learning and growth of our students. I look forward to being a part of the Concordia community."

- Steven Winkelman, new head of school at Concordia International School Shanghai.
